I couldn't hold out any longer, let the nerdiness continue as I share those things I'm most geeked out about in 2012!
Batman: The Dark Knight Rises – (July 20th) That the first two Batman movies in this
series are probably the best superhero movies ever made (aside from The Incredibles – O.O I meant that). Nolan's take is the
Batman I've always wanted to see! While
I don't like all of the leaked footage that has appeared on the internet (for a
movie like this the less I know the better).
I also think Tom Hardy has some pretty big shoes to fill after HeathLedger's Joker (heck, I'd even say the same for Anne Hathaway after MichellePfeiffer's Catwoman.) Even with my
petty, trifling concerns, I know this movie won’t disappoint
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey – (December 14th)
I'm not really sure how much I need to elaborate on this one. If this isn't on your all-time nerd-list of
most wanted movies ever made, then please hand in your geek card at the door.
;)
Halo 4: (December 31st according to Amazon)
The music alone gives me goosebumps, and I don't even want to think about or
admit to the number of hours I've sunk into, er, been entertained by this
series of games. Halo is probably one of
the few games that keeps my interest enough to play through to finishing. Master Chief is always welcome in my gaming library.
iPhone 5: (rumor only) My contract is up this fall, if
the planets align properly with my local iStore this may happen. There is nothing more I hate than spending
money on stuff that isn't used. A year
and a half ago I surprised my wife and kids with iPhone 3GS (I got an amazing
deal.) We all use them constantly, so
money well spent in my opinion. With
every iOS upgrade comes some pretty cool improvements and, unfortunately, a
slower iPhone. Whether we end up with
the iPhone 4s or can hold out for the 5, I'm looking forward to an upgrade.
DC New 52 – (ongoing) I realize that this started in
2011, but I'm looking forward to more!
I've got a closet filled with comics stacked taller than me, and it has
been years since I've purchased regularly.
The soft reboot by DC worked. My
kids and I have all been enjoying the new issues. While I don't love every title, I enjoy most
and I have to admit it's been fun getting every title every month. I've resolved to do this for the entire year
before I start cutting out titles. (Now
if I could get a Marvel reboot. I’m an
X-Fan, but 100 less X-Titles would be welcome.)
Angst 3: Drowning in Angst – (hmmm) Yeah, I went there. Official title by the way :) While I'm not so foolish as to give
unrealistic expectations about when this book is going to be finished (this
time), I'm going to be working on it aggressively throughout 2012. If I finish Angst 2 on a Monday, I'll start
Angst 3 on a Tuesday. I already know a
lot of what is going to happen, it's going to be a heck of an adventure!
Honorable Mentions: Underworld: Awakening (January 20th),
Wrath of the Titans (March 30th), John Carter (March 9th),
Men In Black III (May 25th), Snow White and the Huntsman (June 1st),
G.I. Joe: Retaliation (June 29th), The Amazing Spider-Man (July 3rd)
Whew, so yeah, a pretty fun year for David! I'm sure there is more, and stuff I'm missing, but this is more than enough to keep me busy between writing sessions.
All excellent choices and I agree with most. If I could add one big one to my list it would be:
ReplyDeleteTransformers: Fall of Cybertron.
You get to play as the dinobots this time around. Heck, I'd buy it for that alone.
As the mother of a Halo 4 artist... thrilled to see it on your list!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I agree with most of the others as well!
@rick That looks pretty slick, I may have to pick up for my 360! @Marilyn - okay, really, that's about the coolest thing ever! Please thank him for all of his efforts :)
